Many years ago a legend created a legend. Fred Bear's innovative Take Down recurve bow design revolutionized the archery world. Bear Archery is proud to reintroduce this classic with their Fred Bear Take Down recurve bow. This beautiful piece of traditional archery history is certain to inspire your archery spirit.

Riser: Available in A and B riser models. They feature the classic 1969 heal horn style grip for a deep feel and consistent grip. The riser features the classic Bear medallion on one side and the famous Bear compass on the other. Choose from wood combinations of Black Maple with a Phenolic Black Stripe, or Bubinga and Phenolic with a Phenolic Black Stripe. Radiused, cut-on center shelf for instinctive shooting and easier arrow tuning. The shelf is 1/8" above the grip for closer arrow-to-hand trajectory and consistent arrow flight. The riser is tapped with Bear 1/4" x 20 quiver inserts.

Limbs: Constructed of Dymondwood® with black fiberglass, with core lamination of Fascor. The handcrafted tips are layered with hard rock maple, and black and white fiberglass to handle modern high performance bow strings.

String: Black and white D97 Flemish twist bow string.

Available with A or B riser in right or left handed. Color/Wood options of black maple with a phenolic black stripe, or bubinga and phenolic with a phenolic black stripe. Limb weight options of 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, or 70# @ 28" draw.

See chart for determining bow AMO length with different limb models of #1 or #3. Subtract 4" for actual string length needed. Recommended brace height: A handle 7¾" - 8¾", B handle 7" - 8".

Choose from a left or right handed bow (choose based on what hand you Draw the bow string with), and bow weight at a 28" draw length. Remember that with a traditional bow the weight will change depending upon what your draw length is. Bow weight will change approximately ±2½ pounds for every inch from a bows rated draw length. So a bow rated 45# @ 28" bow is roughly a 42½# @ 27" or 47½# @ 29". Draw weight is marked at the nearest 5# increment to actual weight, (2#'s under and 3#'s over). This is an industry wide standard.

Bow stringer not included. A bow stringer is recommended for stringing any recurve bow or longbow. Stringing a bow without a bow stringer, or stringing it backwards will void a bow's warranty. Click here to see our Bow Stringers. It is recommended to unstring your bow if you do not plan to be shooting more than week. Store your bow on its side, or hanging vertically from a peg. Never rest the bow on the lower tip for extended periods of time. Never dry fire the bow (shooting without an arrow).
