68" Hickory Backed Ipe Kit with Riser Block and Tip Overlays

Ipe is a beautiful, hard, rot resistant wood ideal for bowbuilding. Hickory is strong, stiff, and shock resistant, making it a popular material for backing bows. The 68" hickory backed ipe bow kit blends these two classic woods into a great bow building project.

The kit comes with ipe stave, hickory backing, riser block, and tip overlays. The basic bow form is roughed out for you, letting you finish the bow your way with your own personal touches. When you have your bow shaped and sanded to your liking, you will want to glue the hickory tip overlays and riser block to the bow, then sand and shape to your liking. We recommend adding a finish to your bow to extend the life and protect the wood.

You will need to glue the backing to the stave. We recommend Smooth-On EA 40 Bow Glue. Once the backing is glued, you will need to shape your bow to your particular desire. We recommend buying our 3Rivers Archery's Bow Building Tool Kit to ensure you have all the tools you need. You will also need a square and pencil.

Kit comes with an unfinished bow string.
